Revd Richard Andrew
Job title:
Director of York Institute for Community Theology
Key responsibilities:
My main responsibilities are for Preordination training for the Methodist Church but I am also involved in a number of national and regional training initiatives for the Church. I teach biblical hermeneutics, ethics, mission and systematic theology on various programmes.
Background and interests:
After a period working in industry I became a Methodist Minister serving in Sheffield before joining the Institute as Director in 2002. I have studied in London and Cambridge, with brief study periods at Yale and Tübingen. My research interests relate to the mission and theology of the Church, though I am also interested in spirituality and political theology. My wife, Debbie, is a primary school teacher and I have two children, Tom and Becky, who employ me as their taxi driver. I enjoy walking, travelling, reading, sharing with friends and playing guitar. I am a passionate Middlesbrough supporter - though whether that counts as enjoyment is open to interpretation.
